Why Bespoke 3D Modelling Can Sometimes Mean Additional Time and Cost
Our CGI pricing is designed to stay competitive. Discover how we use existing 3D assets and manufacturer models to control costs, and why bespoke specifications can occasionally require additional modelling.
When “Bespoke” Means More Than a Specification
When we see the word “bespoke” within a designer’s specification, our ears prick up. Why? Because bespoke furniture, lighting, joinery or products can mean creating completely new 3D content from scratch—and accurate modelling takes time.
Our CGI prices remain competitive because we work intelligently with established 3D asset libraries wherever appropriate. We also actively approach manufacturers to obtain accurate 3D models of specified products. This allows us to maintain visual quality and specification accuracy without unnecessarily adding hours of bespoke modelling to every CGI commission.
How We Keep CGI Pricing Competitive
Our first approach is always to find the most efficient solution. We’ll check our existing library, search for an appropriate asset, or contact the manufacturer directly to see whether usable 3D product models already exist.
Historically, many designers are also comfortable using a visually similar alternative where an exact model isn’t commercially necessary. This helps us protect project budgets and maintain competitive CGI costs. However, if the precise bespoke item is essential and no suitable 3D asset exists, creating it falls outside the assumptions of a standard CGI scope and may require additional time and fees.
Bespoke Modelling Is Also a Long-Term Investment
So please don’t be offended if we occasionally come back and explain that a specified item requires additional modelling. If it’s not within our library, unavailable online and the manufacturer cannot provide suitable 3D data, bespoke 3D modelling becomes additional project scope.
There is, however, a valuable upside. Once we’ve created that bespoke 3D asset, the digital collateral exists and can potentially be reused across future CGI projects. What begins as an additional modelling investment can therefore become a valuable long-term asset—supporting future imagery, animations, interactive experiences and other visual content without repeatedly starting from scratch.
