About Us

At Do Digital Agency, we specialise in creating visually striking, immersive digital content from our base in Cardiff, Wales. We work on a wide range of projects—from architectural visualisation to bespoke interactive experiences—blending creativity with cutting-edge technology.

We’re now looking for a Technical Artist with Unreal Engine expertise to help bring our environments and ideas to life. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team where your input has a real impact.

We’re seeking a Technical Artist / Unreal Engine Developer to join our growing Interactive Experiences team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building and optimizing real-time visual experiences using Unreal Engine, collaborating closely with our artists, designers, and technical directors to create high-quality, interactive, and immersive 3D environments.

Your work will span architectural visualization, educational applications, and entertainment projects, combining gameplay logic, cinematic storytelling, and user interaction to bring digital spaces to life.

This position offers flexibility — you can be office-based or work remotely, depending on your preference and location.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy interactive real-time experiences using Unreal Engine.

  • Develop and implement gameplay logic, user interaction systems, and environmental simulations using Blueprints and C++.

  • Collaborate across disciplines — working with 3D artists, designers, and technical directors to integrate environments, lighting, VFX, and UI/UX for polished, high-impact visuals.

  • Optimise assets, lighting, and performance for PC, VR, and mobile platforms using Unreal’s profiling and debugging tools.

  • Create and refine UI/UX interfaces, ensuring intuitive navigation and user engagement.

  • Contribute to gamification design, including reward systems, progress tracking, and interactive storytelling.

  • Lead beta testing and QA cycles, managing feedback loops to refine usability and visual fidelity.

  • Maintain stable production pipelines — managing version control, testing, and deployment processes.

  • Develop and support internal tools to streamline workflows, enable faster iteration, and enhance content generation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprints, Materials, Nanite, Lumen, and in-editor modelling tools.

  • Strong C++ programming skills (C++17 or newer) with scripting experience in Python.

  • Proven experience developing and deploying interactive real-time applications or games across architecture, simulation, or entertainment domains.

  • Solid understanding of optimisation, asset streaming, and performance profiling for real-time rendering.

  • Proficient in 3D asset workflows, including experience with 3ds Max, Datasmith, and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects).

  • Familiarity with UI frameworks, interaction systems, and state management for immersive experiences.

  • Strong grasp of game design principles and user experience flow.

  • Experience managing beta builds, gathering feedback, and tracking performance metrics to refine product quality.

  • Creative eye and technical mindset, with the ability to balance performance and visual fidelity.

  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work both independently and within a small, multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience developing gamified training or learning simulations.

  • Background in architecture visualisation or digital twin environments.

  • Experience with Docker, cloud deployment, and large-scale system integration.

  • Familiarity with VR and AR development pipelines.

  • Knowledge of robotics simulation, physics modelling, or sensor data visualisation.

  • Experience with 3D software: 3DS Max, Blender, Maya, or Substance Painter.

  • Experience creating internal Unreal Editor tools or plugins.

  • Understanding of CI/CD workflows and automated build systems.

Personal Attributes

  • Creative, self-driven, and passionate about interactive design and storytelling.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team setting.

  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple builds or iterations.

  • Eager to experiment, prototype, and push the boundaries of real-time interaction.

Why Join Dodigital?

  • Work from Cardiff HQ or remotely anywhere in the UK.
  • Join a tight-knit team with room to shape direction and creative approach.
  • Be part of innovative, varied projects that blend visual storytelling with real-time tech.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Full-Time / Part-Time Considered
  • 20 days annual leave + bank holidays.
  • Flexible, hybrid working model.
  • Funded training and career development opportunities..
  • Annual pay reviews and performance-based bonuses.
  • Support for VR/AR hardware access and testing environments.

Interactive Experience Department Roadmap Lead (Strategic Partner Role)

We are also seeking an individual who can help develop a strategic roadmap for our Interactive Experience Department.

This person will collaborate with creative and technical leads to define the vision, technical direction, and production pipeline for upcoming interactive projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a long-term roadmap for gamified and interactive experience initiatives.
  • Identify emerging technologies and tools relevant to real-time interactivity.
  • Define testing and release protocols, including beta feedback systems.
  • Support team growth through mentorship, process improvement, and training pathways.
  • Partner with leadership to establish best practices, documentation, and scalability standards.

Ideal candidates for this roadmap leadership role are experienced Unreal developers, technical directors, or experienced designers with a track record of leading interactive projects from concept to deployment.
